Beachgoers call for action on sargassum

Sargassum seaweed continues to wash ashore along the beaches and coastal areas of Barbados, with some residents calling for greater action to address the issue.

At the popular Miami Beach on Sunday, some beachgoers expressed concerns about the amount of sargassum along the shoreline, as well as the strong odour it produces as it accumulates on the beaches.

For some, the seaweed is affecting the overall beach experience, and they are calling for a more effective way to manage the recurring problem.

They also questioned whether efforts are continuing to recycle or repurpose sargassum, turning what is often viewed as a nuisance into a potential resource.

Meanwhile, one businessman says the seaweed has been severely affecting his business, particularly on weekends.
