The public is being warned of aggravated sea conditions occurring mainly along the western coastlines of the island.
The Barbados Meteorological Services say these conditions result from northerly swells which are expected to remain until Thursday, January 2, 2025.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados for this marine event.
The BMS says the formation of a mid-latitude cyclone in the Central Atlantic has generated northerly sea swells across the region.
Choppy and potentially hazardous sea conditions along the western coastlines of Barbados are likely throughout this period.
There has been deterioration in sea conditions along western beaches, as far south as Batts Rock.
Swells of 1.5 to 2.5 metres will continue to impact the coastal waters today with a gradual reduction in the swell heights are expected tonight.
The BMS states although this northerly swell event is forecast to end on Thursday with a subsequent improvement in sea conditions along the western coast, swell heights will again increase to 2.5 metres leading into the weekend.
Therefore, the alert level for the marine forecast remains elevated to yellow (be aware).
Marine users are encouraged to follow the advice and warnings provided by the NCC and its lifeguards.
The public is also being urged to monitor official sources for further updates over the coming days.
