The Barbados Revenue Authority is advising the public it is aware that some vehicle registration application information is circulating on the internet and social media.
In a release, the BRA says the security and privacy of its stakeholders are of utmost importance, and it is actively working with its partners and law enforcement to investigate the incident.
The Authority notes as the investigation continues, it has to be mindful not to share information about the specific nature of the incident or of the security measures taken to address them, so as not to jeopardise the work of the investigators.
As a necessary precaution, it has also restricted access to the vehicle registration portal and apologises for the inconvenience.
Barbadians are asked to remain vigilant, monitor their personal account activity and be on the alert for any unusual activity or requests seeming to come from the Authority.
If any such activity occurs, it may be reported to the BRA’s Data Privacy Officer at privacy@bra.gov.bb.
