The Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated (BTMI) is encouraging visitors to embrace the new car rental levy implemented by Government, which went into effect today.
The BTMI points out that the levy is designed to ensure the island’s long-term environmental sustainability and thanks tourism partners for their cooperation in protecting Barbados’ natural resources.
Set at BDS $5 per day for up to seven days, the levy replaces the driver’s permit fee and aims to support environmental initiatives.
The funds collected will help preserve and protect the island’s coastlines, gullies, parks, and marine ecosystems.
The money will also be used to support the efforts of the Barbados Ocean and Coastal Authority and the Barbados Nature Conservancy Trust.
