Principals of schools affected by the Barbados Union of Teachers’ strike action managed to keep things running on day two of the ongoing teacher absence.
That’s according to Deputy Chief Education Officer, Julia Beckles.
Yesterday’s strike action impacted six primary schools.
At Belmont Primary, just three of the 18 teachers reported for duty.
Arthur Smith Primary had 11 of its 31 teachers present, while St. Lawrence Primary saw only five out of 21.
At Workman’s Primary, three of 12 teachers showed up, and Sharon Primary recorded ten of 28.
Meanwhile, at St. Jude’s Primary, 17 teachers were present at the start of the day, but by midday, several had left.
