The Barbados Union of Teachers is supporting the Ministry of Education’s proposed measures to address ongoing violence in schools.
However, President Rudy Lovell says the Union wants to know the timeline for the proposed measures to be implemented.
He says the Union is hoping the they will come on stream as soon as possible.
At a press conference on the weekend, Minister of Education Kay McConney announced the Ministry has conducted security audits of schools and a draft National Security and Safety Policy has been prepared and is now being finalised.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lovell says parents have a role to play in the process.
