Government is making it clear that Barbados and other small island developing states want fair and easy access to the Loss and Damage Fund when the need arises.
Minister of Environment, National Beautification, Blue and Green Economy Adrian Forde says this is critical to helping countries respond to climate change issues, especially extreme weather events.
The fund was established at COP27 with the aim of providing financial assistance to developing countries most vulnerable to climate change impacts.
Minister Forde made the country’s position clear at the opening of the 5th Board meeting of the fund, held at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
