There’s a growing call for Caribbean nations to give stronger support to regional air carriers, to make travel within the region more affordable and accessible.
That was the consensus from tourism ministers during a ministerial dialogue at the State of Tourism International Conference at the Hilton Barbados Resort this morning.
Hon. Zhavarqo Jolly, Minister of Tourism for the Turks and Caicos Islands, pointed to disparities in treatment between international and regional airlines.
Meanwhile, Councillor Tashia Burris, Secretary of Tourism for Tobago, echoed similar concerns.
She noted that despite consistent marketing, including promoting the island’s festivals, Tobago remains one of the Caribbean’s best-kept secrets, not by choice, but because access to the island is so limited.
