As the We Gatherin’ initiative gathers momentum, there’s an appeal for residents of St. Lucy to nominate those from the area who they think are worthy of the Pride of Barbados Awards for the parish.
Director of the We Gatherin’ Secretariat, Senator John King says these awards are part of We Gatherin 2025.
The deadline has been extended since Senator King spoke to CBC and Barbadians here and in the Diaspora now have until Sunday, January 12, to submit nominations to the National Honours and Decorations Advisory Council for the Pride of Barbados Award 2025 for St. Lucy.
However, the deadline for nominations for St. Peter remains Friday, January 31.
And for those who might be finding it difficult, Senator King provides a guide.
The Pride of Barbados may be conferred by the President, in accordance with the award of Pride of Barbados Act, 2019.
It is awarded to a person who is a citizen of Barbados or is entitled to be registered as a citizen of Barbados, or is a permanent resident of Barbados and through sacrifice, diligence, and dedication to service has made an outstanding contribution to community life in a parish in Barbados, or to the improvement of economic and social conditions in a parish in Barbados.
