A local cleric is urging Barbadians not to view current discussions on slavery as a cause for revenge, but rather as an opportunity to help those left behind confront a dark chapter in history.
That’s the message from the Rector of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, the Reverend Canon Wayne Isaacs.
He says slavery can be seen as one of the many storms our foreparents endured.
Canon Isaacs notes that this practice in Barbados was very dehumanising and can be regarded as a scourge on the human race.
He stresses that part of our responsibility as Christians and people of goodwill is to ensure that no one ever experiences another storm like the one slavery brought.
