The Barbados Nurses Association is calling for harsher penalties for people who assault healthcare workers.
President Dr. Faye Parris made the call earlier today, expressing concern and disappointment over a recent court ruling.
A man who slapped a 64-year-old nurse at the Randall Phillips Polyclinic last month was ordered to pay $400 in compensation.
Dr. Parris described the ruling as a slap in the face to nurses across Barbados.
