The rhythms of the Caribbean will be in the spotlight at CARIFESTA XV, with a strong presence in workshops, youth development, and live performances.
Music Organisations Officer at the National Cultural Foundation, Aisha Butcher, says her focus is on three main activities: a two-day vocal performance workshop, the junior MC programme, and showcasing original works by local artists at the Grand Market.
She was speaking as the Barbados delegation updated the media on the progress of various events. The vocal workshop to be held at the Foundation School will explore unique performance styles of Caribbean genres.
Meanwhile, Cultural Officer with Responsibility for the Visual Arts at the Foundation, Rodney Ifill, says persons with disabilities will be the heart of at least one project that falls under the visual arts discipline.
He adds that members of that community will be heavily involved in a mural project that will adorn the Careenage in the City.
