CARICOM leaders have given their support to the full free movement of people across the region.
There will however still be some limitations – the free movement provisions will still not apply to the Bahamas and Montserrat.
During a press conference, Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley noted there are some aspects of the Treaty of Chaguaramas that will require some amendments as they move beyond the free movement of skills.
The current status quo of some CARICOM member states imposing visa restrictions on Haitian nationals will remain.
Ms. Mottley says the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry has asked that his country be excused from the arrangements put in place for the free movement.
