A significant step in care for Barbadians living with or at risk of heart disease.
The Medical Emergency Centre, formerly the Sparman Clinic, officially launched its newly expanded, state-of-the-art facility last night, with the announcement of a free life-saving cardiac care initiative, “Hearts of Hope”.
Medical Director Dr. Kim Solomon announced that the philanthropic program will provide free, life-saving cardiac treatment to patients who are unable to afford care. Dr Solomon noted the importance of this initiative, reporting that on average, one stroke is recorded every day in Barbados. And there are three heart attacks every three days. According to the Medical Director, these are urgent calls to attention and action, which the Medical Emergency Centre is answering.
The expanded medical facility introduces a team of highly trained specialists. It welcomes Dr Alejandro González, a distinguished Cuban physician bringing advanced expertise in emergency cardiac response and rehabilitation.
Dr Alfred Sparman, founder of the Sparman Clinic, said he is proud to see the next generation of clinicians, led by Dr Solomon, take charge.
