The delivery of a wide range of health-related services in Barbados has received a major boost, with the arrival of a medical team from China.
The team was welcomed at the Grantley Adams International Airport by officials from the Ministry of Health, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Chinese Embassy last night, including Chinese Ambassador, Yan Xiusheng.
Speaking to the media following the arrival of the nine medical professionals, the Chinese Ambassador says this is now the sixth medical team to arrive in Barbados, as part of an agreement signed in Bejing between the two countries, and they will be providing support in a number of areas.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dr. Sonia Browne, has welcomed the arrival of the members of the medical team, noting they will be making their presence felt in a number of areas, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
She says a major plus of the visit is that the team will be leaving some of their equipment for use by the hospital when they return.
