The Barbados Water Authority and Banks Holdings Limited have partnered to commission a rainwater harvesting system, consisting of two water tanks, at the Milton Lynch Primary School.
The initiative comes ahead of World Water Day, which will be celebrated on Saturday under the theme ‘Life Is Impossible Without Water’.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight explained to the boys that Barbados is one of the most water scarce places in the world.
She urged the students to do their part as Government and the private sector play a role in the efforts to conserve water.
The students engage in an agricultural and animal husbandry project at the Water Street, Christ Church school plant.
The project will assist with watering of the plants and chickens.
Senior Teacher Joel Callender says the projects at the school were initiated by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.
