A Principal Security Consultant is warning of the possibility of increasingly severe cyber attacks.
Edward Millington was speaking to CBC News after the Barbados Statistical Service confirmed its systems had been breached in recent weeks.
He believes a risk assessment must be done, and a national cyber security programme rolled out, based on international best standards.
Mr. Millington warns a failure to take action could result in disruptions to key public services.
Mr. Millington is also advocating for the creation of a national public awareness programme for the public.
