Some Thorpe’s, St. James residents were left without electricity and the use of their landlines after a container truck pulled down a pole in its wake.
The main artery to parts of the island was blocked as utility crews from both the Barbados Light and Power Company and Flow Barbados were on the ground carrying out investigations, with the aim of restoring services.
Member of Parliament for the area, Sandra Husbands, says this incident highlights some of the challenges in a changing society.
She is also thankful that the damage was not more significant.
Ms. Husbands says her only concern is how soon the amenities will be restored.
