Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Senator Chad Blackman, believes more opportunities must be provided for the country’s youth if it is to see a reduction in crime.
He made the link between crime and economic growth during the annual general meeting of the Barbados Labour Party’s St. Lucy branch.
Senator Blackman says many young people who find themselves behind bars are incredibly talented.
And as Barbados continues to be faced with a declining population, Senator Blackman has described the Barbados Population Policy which was recently approved by the Lower House, as a critical juncture in the country’s history.
He says the island needs more people.
