After months of anticipation, thousands of primary school students today sat the Barbados Secondary School Entrance Examination, popularly known as the Common Entrance Exam.
A total of 2,981 students were registered for this year’s sitting.
They included 16 students who were granted permission to write the exam early, at age 10.
Acting Minister of Educational Transformation, Sandra Husbands, led a touring party of various examination centres.
She acknowledged the efforts put in by secondary schools and principals to calm students for the 11 Plus.
She says this ensured they were focused.
Minister Husbands says the reduction in numbers sitting the 11 Plus is evidence of the decline in Barbados’ population.
