Five organisations received donations from the Department of Emergency Management’s (DEM) Coastal and Smart Month charity event.
The donations were part of the culmination of DEM’s Run Tsunami Run 5K Walk and Run, one of the activities held during Coastal Hazards and Earthquake Smart Month from March 1st to 31st.
The receiving organisations include the Business Professional Women’s Club of Barbados, the Young Women’s Christian Association, the St. Lucy District Hospital, and the St. Lawrence and St. Elizabeth Primary Schools.
DEM Director Kerry Hinds encourages Barbadians to find ways to contribute to personal, business, organisational, and family preparedness.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Barbados Meteorological Services, Brian Murray, emphasises the importance of preparedness in the event of a disaster.
