A local non-profit organisation is on a drive to assist forty school-aged children from eight secondary schools across the island.
Word of this from the founder of “Drop A Pack Purple Love Foundation”, Cherry-Ann Oughterson. She says the guidance counsellor of each school usually identifies these students.
This year, students will be chosen from Deighton Griffith Secondary; Ann Hill School; Graydon Sealy Secondary; Christ Church Foundation School; Parkinson Memorial; The Ellerslie School; Springer Memorial; and Frederick Smith Secondary.
She was speaking as a guest on Mornin’ Barbados, where she says they are hosting a sip and paint to raise funds on July 26th.
Ms. Oughterson says they are also hosting a back-to-school drive, where bags are distributed, filled with personal hygiene products or stationery. They are then returned before they are distributed to those in need.
She says so far they have had about seven bags returned, but there are still more bags to be filled.
