Economist and Deputy Principal at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Professor Winston Moore says the 2025 Budgetary Proposals and Financial Statement addressed a number of key points for the country.
He commended Government for its commitment to the country’s fiscal and debt management in relation to reducing the debt to GDP ratio.
He notes the change to registering vehicles, adjustments to the labour market in providing maternal and paternal leave, and building disaster and climate resilience will also redound to the country’s benefit locally and abroad.
Professor Moore says many economists and those working in the area of climate science have predicted that the next couple of years are going to be difficult for small island developing states.
He highlighted investments in water storage, food security, and the Resilience and Regeneration Fund as spaces of great interest.
