Efforts are afoot to establish a special needs unit at the Daryll Jordan Secondary School.
This has been revealed by the former principal of that school, Stephen Jackman.
He was addressing the launch of a book authored by retired principal Jeff Broomes, entitled ‘St. Lucy to Daryll Jordan: The Inspiring Journey’.
Mr. Jackman recalled how the school took steps to address student’s learning challenges, once it started to accept allocations under the Barbados Secondary School Entrance Exam.
During his remarks, Mr. Broomes explained the book details a journey which started in 1975 when he was hired as an English teacher at the then St. Lucy Secondary School.
He says despite a lucrative offer from a US company, a major motivation to accept the teaching position was his former teacher Daryll Jordan who was the principal of the school.
