Electric taxis could mean cheaper fares for Bajans

Barbadians could be paying cheaper taxi fares in the future.

Chairman of the Alliance Owners of Public Transport, Roy Raphael, says this will be one of the benefits of introducing electric taxi cars to the island.

The Zippy Taxi, launched on Friday, is the first 100% electric taxi on the island.

Mr. Raphael adds the Zippy Taxi has been designed to make short trips and will be operating in areas such as The City and Sunset Crest, St. James, at this time.
