Fisherfolk are still feeling the impact of the damage created by Hurricane Beryl last year.
Co-ordinator at Central Fish Processors, Lisa Oliver, says despite the assistance received, those at the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex are still reeling from the effects of the storm, which decimated the industry last year.
She says they’re unsure if they will fully recover by later this year, especially with the unknowns of this new hurricane season.
Ms. Oliver was speaking today, as fisher folk and vendors at the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex downed tools and celebrated their customers and those who patronise the facility.
Despite the inclement weather, those gathered at the Cheapside facility remained upbeat.
Ms. Oliver says this is an annual event, and this year they wanted to specifically say thank you to those who helped to see them through the impact of Hurricane Beryl.
