The removal of garbage from overflowing trash cans across the island started Monday.
This, as some Sanitation Service Authority employees resumed work from the afternoon, after being off the job for the past five days.
Full operations are expected to resume on Tuesday morning.
That is the word from Chairman of the SSA, Ramon Alleyne, who provided CBC News with an update on the situation.
SSA’s management planned a meeting with the workers’ representative body, the National Union of Public Workers, for Tuesday evening.
Last Thursday, SSA workers downed tools and staged industrial action.
According to workers, they were protesting several issues, among them, the absence of personal protective equipment needed to do their jobs.
