Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector, Colin Jordan, says steps are being taken to address the staff shortage.
He says approval has been granted for additional posts to be created within the department, and Prime Minisister Mia Amor Mottley has intervened so that the process of hiring these new officers can move faster.
Mr Jordan says the vacancies have been advertised and interviews conducted.
