The High Wind Advisory for Barbados has been extended, as strong winds continue to affect the island.
These conditions are expected to persist into the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
A High Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots (47 to 61 km/h) are affecting or forecast to affect the land area within 36 hours.
An Atlantic high-pressure system is currently generating winds of 20 to 30 knots (35 to 55 km/h) across the island, with higher gusts possible, particularly near showers.
According to the Barbados Meteorological Services, there is a risk of unsecured objects, such as inflatable structures, tents, and garbage cans, being tumbled or blown away.
Trees, large branches, and power lines may also be brought down.
The public is urged to monitor official sources for updates.
This advisory will be updated at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, or earlier if conditions warrant.
