A High Wind Advisory in effect for Barbados has been extended, as moderate to strong winds are currently affecting Barbados and will continue for the remainder of the week.
The Barbados Meteorological Services says a strengthening Atlantic high-pressure system is dominant across Barbados and the region. Moderate to strong winds of 20 to 30 knots (37 to 56 km/h) associated with this feature are affecting the island, with higher gusts expected near showers.
The public is warned to expect tumbling or rolling of unsecured objects (e.g. inflatable structures, tents and garbage cans).
The BMS says this wind activity is not associated with a tropical storm or hurricane.
The public is encouraged to monitor official sources for further information.
This High Wind Advisory will be updated at noon tomorrow.
