A Government Minister says caretakers, specifically those in private care institutions, should not be paid less than the minimum wage.
He stresses this is illegal.
Further, Elder Affairs Minister, Kirk Humphrey notes a number of people who are hired to take care of the elderly do not have the requisite training or are not paid the required remuneration.
He was speaking after public concerns were raised that social workers should be paid more if better results are expected.
