Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has been explaining the importance of the establishment of the National Botanical Gardens in St. Michael.
She spoke about the designated area during a tree planting ceremony there with former First Lady of South Africa, Her Excellency Dame Graça Machel, as a symbol of cementing her visit to the island as it culminates today.
The Prime Minister stressed that green spaces are needed for recreation and other purposes.
Ms. Mottley added that the importance of the area also relates to Government’s intention to build out infrastructure to support the creative industry in Barbados.
