A slight improvement in this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination (BSSEE) results when compared to last year’s, with females once again outperforming their male counterparts.
In Mathematics, there was an increase in the number of students scoring above fifty per cent, with 65 per cent of the students scoring 50 or more marks, while the remaining 35 per cent scored less than 50 marks.
Meanwhile, two female students scored zero in Mathematics, whereas 24 students, including 13 females and 11 males, scored 100.
Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw says the national mean in Mathematics this year is 60.2 compared to 54.6 last year.
In terms of the English results, this year, no student scored zero. 85 per cent of the students scored 50 and above, while the remaining 14.9 per cent scored below 50. Of the three students who scored full marks on the English paper, one came from Wills Primary School, one from Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and St Paul’s Primary.
Overall, the national mean in English for 2025 is 72.5 as compared to 65.2 in 2024 and 69.5 in 2023
