The last four days of inclement weather put a damper on the cutting of canes.
Chairman of the Barbados Sugar Industry Limited, Mark Sealy, reports, however, that they were able to cut canes on Monday, and have so far delivered 71.5 thousand tonnes of cane to the Portvale Sugar Factory, about 70% of the overall crop.
Mr. Sealy says he is hopeful that the weather will subside long enough to allow them to continue cutting canes before the end of the crop.
