An increasing number of women are being diagnosed with breast cancer.
According to Medical Co-Ordinator at the Barbados Cancer Society Breast Screening Clinic, Dr. Shirley Jhagroo the number of positive cases has doubled between 2019 and 2024.
She says at the clinic, an average of 36 to 40 patients are screened daily.
She made the comments at the Walk for the Cure 2024 Donation Ceremony.
Dr. Jhagroo says the clinic’s 3D state-of-the-art machine to detect cancer in the breast has been making a difference in early diagnosis.
