Barbadians will have the opportunity to learn about some of the island’s history as the University of the West Indies hosts the Standpipe Stories series.
This is according to Senior Lecturer in History and Head of Department at the UWI Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Henderson Carter.
He says St. Peter’s installation of the series kicks off tonight, and while many of the stories told in Barbadiana sound fictional, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
Dr. Carter, who was speaking on Mornin’ Barbados, is calling on all Barbadians to share their stories with the hopes of publishing them.
Meanwhile, Historian Dr. Cleve Scott says many of those stories are found throughout the communities.
