A new initiative is helping children strengthen their mathematics skills while making learning the subject more enjoyable.
The Massy Foundation, in partnership with the local chapter of Junior Chamber International, JCI Barbados, recently completed its “Math Fanatix Programme”, which provided additional mathematics lessons for primary school students preparing for the Common Entrance Examination.
Seven schools participated in the initiative, giving students an opportunity to improve their skills and build confidence in the subject.
Speaking at the programme’s closing ceremony, JCI Barbados President Rochelle Waldron-Cox acknowledged that mathematics can sometimes be confusing and challenging for children. She said the programme was designed to reduce that uncertainty by providing additional support and guidance.
Meanwhile, graduate Isabella Maycock reflected on the support she received, thanking her teachers and family for their encouragement and assistance.
She also encouraged fellow participants to continue working hard as they transition to secondary school, reminding them that determination and effort will be key to their future success.
