Minister of Home Affairs and Information, Wilfred Abrahams, notes that there is some concern about cuts to the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
However, he stresses whatever funding Barbados receives from other entities should be used to bolster the island’s systems.
Following his appointment, United States President Donald Trump has been making cuts to the international agency with many jobs terminated starting February 27 and another 10 per cent set to be retrenched.
Mr Abrahams says the Government has put a great deal of resources into boosting Barbados’ Met Office, and will soon be adding drones to the set-up.
