The Mighty Grynner Highway will be closed from today until August 18, 2024, as the CARIFTA Triathlon & Aquathlon Championships get underway.
The event is being hosted under the auspices of the Barbados Federation of Island Triathletes (BFIT).
Races will occur on the highway from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on August 17-18.
The highway will be closed to traffic from the roundabout at the bottom of University Hill, to the traffic lights at the junction with Fontabelle from 4:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on both days.
During this closure, traffic can travel southbound between Exmouth Gap and the traffic lights at the junction with Fontabelle.
Additionally, those going to the BARVEN market on Saturday morning should travel via Deacons Farm (off Deacons Road).
The Barbados Police Service will control certain junctions to accommodate residents of the area.
The BFIT apologises for any inconvenience caused.
