There is more work to be done to ensure and promote the National Nutrition Policy, especially with the vendors outside of schools.
However, officials remain confident that Barbados is well on its way to improving the stakes for children throughout the school system.
According to Education Officer with Responsibility for Healthy Initiatives in Schools, Hedda Phillips-Boyce a social media campaign feeding healthy futures goes live on February 17.
The campaign will run for three months and is targeted at primary and secondary school students, parents and teachers.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Arthur Phillips says the policy is not just about restricting unhealthy choices, but is also about encouraging healthy choices.
And he says the Ministry of Health and Wellness remains committed to the transition and encourages dialogue and public education on the policy to improve the health of Barbadian children.
