Head coach of the Barbados senior women’s national netball team, Denise Alleyne, has resigned.
Alleyne officially submitted her resignation letter Thursday evening and subsequently informed the players of her decision Friday.
However, it is understood that Alleyne will stay in the position until next month.
The former national basketball and netball player, who succeeded Margaret Cutting back in 2023, led Barbados to a successful campaign at the E.C.C.B. International Tournament.
Currently, Barbados is in training, preparing for competition in August.
CBC Sports understands that Marion Johnson-Hurley has also stepped down as the national under-21 assistant head coach.
The news has sent shock waves through the local netball fraternity.
