Come September 18, 2024, the Barbados Defence Force will be under new leadership.
This as Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Lovell will be appointed as Chief of Staff for a period of four years.
Notice was served in the Official Gazette, dated August 29 2024, of the President of Barbados’ approval of the appointment.
Lt. Col. Lovell, who currently holds the post of Military Advisor to the Chief of Staff, replaces Commodore Errington Shurland.
Lovell will also be promoted to the Rank of Brigadier, effective September 18.
Meanwhile, Staff Advisor to the Chief of Staff Commander Mark Peterson will be promoted to the Rank of Captain Navy, and will be appointed to the post of Deputy Chief of Staff.
Lieutenant Commander Ryan Alleyne has been promoted to Commander, as well as Lieutenant Commander Derrick Brathwaite, who has also been appointed to the post of Commanding Officer of the Barbados Coast Guard.
Major Julia DaBreo has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and will serve as Commanding Officer of the Barbados Regiment.
