While Barbadians were shaken by last Saturday’s magnitude 6.0 earthquake, emergency officials received no reports of damage to property or injuries.
That update came from Director of the Department of Emergency Management, Kerry Hinds.
According to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, the earthquake occurred 99 kilometres south of Bridgetown.
Residents reported that homes and buildings shook for approximately 12 to 15 seconds at around 5:27 p.m.
Ms Hinds addressed the matter during the launch of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
