June 1 marks the official start of the Hurricane Season, and it comes with an appeal for those capable of insuring their property and assets to do so.
The appeal comes against the stark reality laid out by Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams that the Government will not be undertaking another bailout exercise as it did following Hurricane Elsa in 2022 and Hurricane Beryl in 2024.
Additionally, Minister Abrahams disclosed that all houses damaged during Hurricane Elsa have not been repaired. He says they encountered challenges in some cases, but he stresses that the Government cannot intervene in family business.
