The National Union of Public Workers is calling for immediate action and protection of workers in the wake of rising armed robberies.
In a statement, the union expressed alarm over two recent incidents involving public workers represented by the NUPW.
Last week, a sanitation worker was robbed of his personal belongings while on duty, and last night, a nurse was robbed and physically injured outside the St. Philip District Hospital.
NUPW President, Kimberly Agard, says these acts are not only criminal but cowardly attacks on individuals who dedicate themselves daily to the service of the nation.
