Businesses along the Oistins tourist belt remained closed for most of today after a crude oil spill in the Granny’s Car Park area.
The spill happened around 2:00 a.m. while crude oil was being exported to a tanker docked in Oistins Bay.
Rachelle Agard visited the area and filed this report following news of the incident.
Group Health and Safety Manager at Barbados National Energy Company, Damien Catlyn, joined us live to bring us up to speed with the operation at this time.
Additionally, the Transport Board will now resume operations from the Oistins Sub-Terminal.
All buses will return to their regular routes, and commuters may now embark or disembark at the Oistins Sub-Terminal.
The Ministry of Transport and Works and the Transport Board thank commuters for their patience and cooperation during this time.
