A local effort to raise money to help Jamaicans recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa last month has raised more than $11,000.
The four-hour “One Love Jamaica Mediathon,” hosted by the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus and broadcast live on CBC TV 8 and other local and regional stations, came to an end just moments ago.
It featured not only entertainment but interviews with those affected by the Category 5 storm, representatives of regional agencies, and journalists.
During the mediathon, Prime Minister Mia Mottley shared a message of solidarity with the people of Jamaica. She assured that Jamaicans will feel the outpouring of love from Barbados.
