Opposition Leader Ralph Thorne, in his response to the Seaport Industry Management, Operations and Development Bill, has concerns about the section which allows for ship detaining and arrest.
This is found in Section 71(1).
He says he’s not there to tear the legislation apart but rather wants it to be seen as a combined effort to finish a good and necessary work.
He also notes that it is similar to a Mareva injunction in the court.
