Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley continues to be internationally recognised for her efforts in the areas of climate change and resilience funding.
She’s been named on the inaugural TIME100 Climate List of the 100 most influential leaders driving climate action.
TIME Magazine says the list was created after months of climate experts vetting nominations from across the economy, and focusing on measurable, scalable achievements.
The US-based publication described Prime Minister Mottley as “one of the world’s most vocal advocates for wealthy nations and historic polluters to support the most vulnerable countries facing permanent loss or damages from climate change”.
It highlighted the Bridgetown Initiative, and Ms. Mottley’s ambitious plan to phase out fossil fuels by 2030 among other achievements.
Others on the List include Bill Gates, World Bank President Ajay Banga and President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto.
