Grinding operations at the Portvale Sugar Factory are scheduled to resume next Tuesday.
However, General Secretary of the Unity Workers Union (UWU), Caswell Franklyn, says his membership will meet this weekend to determine whether they will participate in the restart.
Mr Franklyn says this is necessary as a dispute between the union and the Barbados Energy and Sugar Company Inc. remains unresolved.
In the meantime, he insists that his members are not responsible for the delayed start to grinding operations at the Blowers, St James sugar factory.
On Tuesday, BESCO issued a statement acknowledging public concerns about operations at the factory and the ongoing industrial relations dispute involving the UWU.
The company says it understands that uncertainty creates stress for workers and their families and is therefore treating the matter seriously.
